HOW TO CREATE MAP LINKS IN MEMBERS' ONLINE LISTINGS

HomeLink members can utilize any of the online geographical mapping services to locate your home, and have the internet URL (Universal Resource Locator) inserted into your online listing.

OPTION A : COMPLETE ADDRESS in Map-link

Follow these simple instructions to produce an accurate Map-link that locates your specific home address.
It will be displayed and accessible only for registered HomeLink International members.

Note : For your address use precise street names. Abbreviations may be rejected.
PO Box numbers will be ignored. City and postal code are most important.
Apartment/unit numbers are unnecessary.

Using GOOGLE MAPS : http://maps.google.com/
STEP 1 : In the "Search" bar type your complete address
Example : 1707 Platt Crescent, North Vancouver BC V7J 1X9
Click "Search Maps" button

Result URL Example :
http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=1707+PLATT+CRESCENT,+NORTH+VANCOUVER+V7J

STEP 2: Zoom in or out to produce the most suitable display.

STEP 3 : Right-click your mouse on Link to this page to produce pop-up menu
             Left-click your mouse to select Copy Shortcut
             [This action stores your map link URL on your PC Clipboard]

STEP 4 : Go to our HomeLink Canada website www.HomeLink.ca members section
             View all listings
             Login with your access codes
             Select Edit my listing
             Scroll down and place cursor into Map link field

STEP 5 : Right-click your mouse for pop-up menu, left-click Paste, or
             - in browser Toolbar select EDIT - Paste, or
             - on keyboard press keys Ctrl+V

STEP 6 : Click on Verify link, watch for OK

STEP 7 : Click on Preview the amended listing to view result of your edit

STEP 8: Click on Update the database for confirmation of your edit

CONGRATULATIONS!
Done! Voila! Fait accompli!

At any time you can modify your MAP LINK by following the steps above.

include your full name and Membership ID.

Using MAPQUEST : http://www.mapquest.com
STEP 1 : Select your COUNTRY
Enter your address : street, city, province and postal code in the required boxes
Click "Search" button

STEP 2: Get a map of (example) 1707 Platt Crescent North vancouver BC V7J 1X9
Result URL example :
http://www.mapquest.com/maps/map.adp?formtype=address&addtohistory=&address=1707%20Platt%20Crescent&city=
North%20Vancouver&state=BC&zipcode=V7J&country=CA&geodiff=1

STEP 3 : Zoom in or out to produce the most suitable display

STEP 4 : In URL address bar, copy the entire URL beginning with http://www.mapquest.com/........

Follow STEPS #4 to #8 above

OR EMAIL your MAP LINK to <members@homelink.ca> with full identity.
Subject : "HomeLink Canada map link for (example) CA12345 John & Mary Smith"


Using YAHOO MAPS : http://maps.yahoo.com
STEP 1 : Enter your address : street, city, province and postal code in the required box
Click on "Get Map"

Result URL example :

STEP 2 : Zoom in or out to produce the most suitable display

STEP 3 : In URL address bar, copy the entire URL beginning with http://maps.yahoo.com/........

Follow STEPS #4 to #8 for GOOGLE MAPS above

Or EMAIL your MAP LINK to <members@homelink.ca> with full identity.
Subject : "HomeLink Canada map link for (example) CA12345 John & Mary Smith"

CONGRATULATIONS!

We will insert your Map-link into your online listing as soon as possible.

OPTION B : POSTAL CODE ONLY in Map link

      This option is recommended for members who:

      (a) discover that the online MAP-LINK services cannot accurately locate your COMPLETE ADDRESS,
           but do produce an adequate locator for your POSTAL CODE; or
      (b) elect not to display your full address for personal reasons; or
      (c) are listing a secondary "vacation" home without its address

Use any internet mapping service like those illustrated above.

GOOGLE : In the "Search" bar enter only your POSTAL CODE
Example : V7J 1X9
Click "Search" button
Result : http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&q=V7J+1X9&ie=UTF8&z=12&ll=49.343467,-
123.027992&spn=0.111841,0.333366&om=1&iwloc=addr

MAPQUEST: Enter only your POSTAL CODE in the required box
Click SEARCH.
Click GET A MAP
