HomeLink International Canada (referred to as “HomeLink Canada”) is a licensed affiliate of HomeLink International Associates (referred to as “HLIA”), an association registered in Brussels, Belgium.HomeLink Canada recognizes the importance to its members of the discreet and confidential handling of their personal information. It is HomeLink Canada’s policy to comply with the requirements of any applicable privacy legislation in all its activities involving the collection, use, disclosure and handling of personal information. Collection of Personal Information HomeLink Canada collects personal information from members who register with HomeLink Canada to exchange their homes with other members of HomeLink International Association (“HLIA”). This information is then published in a directory (“Directory”) along with a description of the home offered for exchange which is written/approved by the member. In registering with HomeLink Canada members acknowledge that their personal information will be published in the online electronic version of the Directory. Only the information that is necessary will be asked. HomeLink Canada also collects personal information of members requesting access to home exchange listings, and in order for HomeLink Canada to be able to respond to a request for information or feedback from members or visitors to the Site. If you choose not to provide HomeLink Canada with your personal information, it may be unable to provide you with its services or respond to a request for information or feedback given by you. Examples of personal information HomeLink Canada collects include but are not limited to: name, address, email address, phone and fax numbers and credit card details. HomeLink Canada only collects personal information by lawful and fair means and not in an unreasonably intrusive way. HomeLink Canada only collects personal information directly from an individual and makes known the purpose for which personal information is being collected at the time it is being collected. HomeLink Canada may check your details with fraud prevention agencies. If you provide false or inaccurate information and we suspect fraud, we will record this. We and other organizations may use and search these records to: Data Quality Once your personal information is collected, HomeLink Canada then uploads that information to a central HLIA database which is maintained by HLIA. HomeLink Canada will take all reasonable steps to ensure that personal information that it holds about a member is accurate, complete and up-to-date. Where a member registers with HomeLink Canada,it will provide a proof copy of their advertisement, upon request, at any time during the registration period and/or where a change is made. Changes are made only at the request of the member. It is the member’s responsibility to ensure that the proof sent to them is accurate and in keeping with that information which they are satisfied will be disclosed to other HLIA affiliates and members. Data Security Please remember that communications over the Internet, are not secure unless they have been encrypted. That is why you acknowledge that no data transmission over the Internet is totally secure. Accordingly, HomeLink Canada does not warrant the security of any information which you transmit to it. Any information which you transmit to HomeLink Canada is transmitted at your own risk. Your communications may go through a number of countries before they are delivered – this is the nature of the Internet. We can not accept any responsibility for any unauthorized access or loss of personal information that is beyond our control. However, once HomeLink Canada receives your transmission, HomeLink Canada will take all reasonable steps to protect your personal information from misuse, loss or unauthorized access which may include but is not limited to any one or more of the following measures: secure network links, firewalls, password protection and virus protection. All your personal data submitted through HomeLink Canada’s secure online forms is transferred over the Internet using industry-standard Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) encryption technology. Upon the completion of a home exchange, your exchange partner may submit an Exchange Evaluation either to their HomeLink registrar to be forwarded to us, or to HomeLink Canada directly. Upon receipt of an Exchange Evaluation about you, HomeLink Canada will provide a complete exact copy for you. Access On request by you, HomeLink Canada will provide you with access to your personal information except where access may be denied under applicable privacy legislation. To request access to your personal information, please contact HomeLink Canada’ s Director, whose contact details are set out at the end of this Privacy Policy. The Director or a delegate will endeavour to respond to your request for access to your personal information within 14 days of the date of receipt of such request. If your request for access is denied, HomeLink Canada will provide you with reasons for its decision. Correction of your personal information If you believe that the personal information HomeLink Canada holds about you is inaccurate, incomplete or not current, please advise us and we will take appropriate measures to correct it or delete it.
